I am convinced that working as little as 20 hours per week with a senior transportation business that you will be busy and making as much money as others with a full-time job. Al I have to do now is convince you of the same.
Trust me, it’s not a hard job for me to do…and here’s how.
As seniors reach their 60’s a number of things happen to them. As most of them will no longer be working full-time jobs they will spend a lot of time in their homes. As they age at home, some with lose some of their independence through illness, strokes and vision impairment. Many of the seniors who end up with these issues will either surrender their driver’s licenses at the request of a doctor or family member. While this is primarily for safety reasons, it essentially leaves a senior ‘trapped’ in their home.
With many seniors who do not have friends or family living nearby, getting away from home for even a simple task like picking up mail at the post office or attending a medical appointment becomes a major chore. Often the senior may opt to just stay indoors rather than relying on taxi services which can result in a costly trip downtown or to the pharmacy.
A senior transportation business will be a cost effective alternative for most seniors as you would very likely already be making trips to the post office, grocery store or doctor’s office for other clients already. Adding one more to your schedule would not be hard and would actually increase your daily wage considerably. This would make your service more affordable than a taxi service for several reasons.
While you would charge an hourly rate, which would range from between $25 and $60 per hour depending on where you live, you could accomplish several tasks per customer in much faster time than a senior riding in a taxi to all their appointments and having the cab on ‘stand by’ with the meter running. If you plan your daily schedule correctly, you could be making single trips to the pharmacy or post office but since you would be servicing multiple clients at the same time, you would earn a great deal more than a single hourly rate.
Plus, launching your senior transportation business would be faster and easier than most any other kind of business start up. That’s because there is no formal training required. You basically need a reliable vehicle, have some simple organizational skills, be able to communicate with seniors with patience, understanding and compassion and have the desire to provide a service that helps your customers as much as it will help you.
Families with a senior still living at home requiring regular trips to medical, social and other appointments would recognize the value in your service and would have no problem supporting it. You would be providing a vital link in these family circles by enabling the senior to retain some level of independence and still participate in the activities they normally would if they could still drive to them themselves.
Starting a senior transportation business is a great idea as you will not only fill a void in the lives of many seniors, you will never run out of potential clients as people continue to age and reach senior years.
